Mechanical Engineer: Product design

We are seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to join happy droid’s product design team. You will be part of the hardware engineering group responsible for conceiving, designing and scaling robotics products from concept through production.

Core expertise should include the design and manufacturing processes of metal and/or polymer components.  We need people who are detail-oriented while maintaining a strong view of the bigger picture. The ability to break down complex problems, define requirements, and prioritize work effectively will be key to success at happy droid.

The candidate has a creative and practical mindset, with demonstrated experience scaling products and understanding the full product life cycle.  We are looking for self-motivated individuals who inspire and support a team, while also being able to independently drive their own work.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years in product design
  • Availability to travel internationally (up to 20%)
  • Experience with plastic and metal part design and manufacturing
  • High personal motivation and creativity
  • Experience leading projects and/or small teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • High volume shipping experience (full product life-cycle view)
  • Experience in the areas of: GD&T, Tolerance Analysis, Statistical Process Control, DFMEA, and RCA/Corrective Actions
  • Experience in gearbox design and manufacturing
  • Experience in enclosure design

Electrical Engineer: Power Electronics

We are looking for an experienced electrical engineer to join happy droid’s engineering team. You will be designing and validating the power electronics that sit at the core of our robotics platform, as well as supporting the design of the many distributed PCBs throughout the system.

The candidate has a creative and practical mindset, with demonstrated experience building production quality hardware. We are looking for self-motivated individuals who inspire and support a team, while also being able to independently drive their own work.

We are looking for an experienced firmware engineer with a passion for robotics to join happy droid’s engineering team. You will be leading the firmware development for our smart actuators and sensors.

The candidate has a creative and practical mindset, with demonstrated experience building production hardened firmware. We are looking for self-motivated individuals who inspire and support a team, while also being able to independently drive their own work.

Core expertise should include writing production quality firmware, developing real time control and sensing algorithms, as well as bringup of new boards. We need people who are detail-oriented while maintaining a strong view of the bigger picture. Core expertise should include building robot and actuator models, designing rewards, training and deploying RL policies, and analyzing data to close the sim2real gap.
